NGC2359 - Thor's Helmet in Canis Major. This image uses a stack of 15 eight-minute exposures taken through a hydrogen-alpha filter for the luminance channel (shown in the image below) and stacks of 5 eight-minute exposures taken through red, green and blue filters for the colors. The images were acquired using an STL11000M CCD camera on a Vixen VC200L 8" f/9 Cassegrain reflector. The raw images were calibrated, defect-corrected and stacked using AIP4Win V2. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1960x1320.
