M94
Object: M94 (NGC4736)
Spiral Galaxy
Const.: Canes Venatici
Camera: SXV-H9 Scope: Tele Vue NP101 Mount: Losmandy Titan
Filter(s): IR block Exposure: 10x8m blank
The spiral galaxy M94 in Canes Venatici. This image is a stack of 10 eight minute exposures using a Tele Vue NP101 4" f/5.4 refractor. The image was calibrated and stacked, a DDP was applied and then it was gamma-stretched using AIP4WIN V2. If you examine the full-size image carefully, you will see hundreds of faint background galaxies. The image below has been processed to bring out the details of the faint outer ring around this galaxy. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1392x1040.

Spiral Galaxy

Camera: SXV-H9 Scope: Tele Vue NP101 Mount: Losmandy Titan
Filter(s): IR block Exposure: 10x8m blank
This image is the same as the one above, but was processed using a new experimental brightness scaling tool to handle the exceptionally wide dynamic range of this image. A Wavelet noise reduction filter was applied to the image before scaling. This image was processed by Richard Berry.

Object: M94 (NGC4736)
Spiral Galaxy
Const.: Canes Venatici
Camera: HX916 Scope: AP130 Mount: AP1200GTO
Filter(s): IR block Exposure: 16x60s blank
The spiral galaxy M94 in Canes Venatici. This image is a stack of 16 one minute exposures using a 5" f/6 refractor. The image was calibrated and stacked, and a DDP was then applied, using the defaults automatically calculated by AIP4WIN. This image has been cropped down from its original size of 1300x1030.
