This image shows the region around the galaxies M58,M59,M60 & M89 in Virgo. A map of the region is shown below. The backgound is filled with numerous faint galaxies. The image is a stack of 10 eight minute exposures using a Tele Vue NP127is f/5.2 apochromatic refractor. The image was calibrated, defect-corrected and stacked and a sigmoid scaling was performed using AIP4WINV2. While this image does suffer from less than perfect focus and guiding, it is fun to play with. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 2004x1336. Clicking on either the image above or the map below will display an enlarged view. The map was created using MegaStar.
