Object: M17 (NGC6618)
The Omega Nebula - Emission Nebula
Const.: Sagittarius
Camera: SXV-H9 Scope: Tele Vue NP127 Mount: Losmandy Titan
Filter(s): Hα:R:G:B Exposure: 8x8m:4x8m:4x8m:4x8m blank
The Omega Nebula, M17, an emission nebula in Sagittarius. This image is a hydrogen-alpha color composite of a stack of 8 eight minute hydrgen-alpha filtered luminance exposures and 4 eight minute exposures for each color channel. The colors were G2V balanced using AIP4WIN V2. The exposures were acquired using an SXV-H9 CCD camera on a Tele Vue NP127 5" f/5.2 refractor. The exposures were calibrated, defect-corrected, stacked and color-combined using AIP4WIN V2. The Ha luminance channel was Wavelet sharpened using AIP4Win V2. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1392x1040.

Camera: SXV-H9 Scope: Vixen R200SS Mount: Losmandy Titan
Filter(s): L:R:G:B Exposure: 10x4m:8x4m:8x4m:8x4m Color channels binned 2x2
The Omega Nebula, M17, an emission nebula in Sagittarius. This image is a color composite of a stack of 10 four minute luminance exposures and 8 four minute exposures for each color channel. The color channels were binned 2x2. As G2V color calibration for this camera & filter combination was not yet available, the colors were autobalanced using the Autobalance feature of the Join Colors tool in AIP4WIN. The exposures were acquired using an SXV-H9 CCD camera on a Vixen R200SS 8" f/4 Newtonian equipped with a Paracorr. The exposures were calibrated, defect-corrected and stacked using AIP4WIN. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1314x1008.

Camera: SXV-H9 Scope: Vixen R200SS Mount: Losmandy Titan
Filter(s): Exposure: 8x8m TeleVue Paracorr
The Omega Nebula, M17, an emission nebula in Sagittarius. This image is a stack of 8 eight minute exposures shot through a Hydrogen-alpha filter. The exposures were acquired using an SXV-H9 CCD camera on a Vixen R200SS 8" f/4 Newtonian equipped with a Paracorr. The exposures were calibrated, defect-corrected, stacked and exponential histogram-shaped using AIP4WIN. A few new experimental tools were applied to enhance the structure. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1392x1040.
