The Horsehead Nebula - Dark Nebula
Const.: Orion
Camera: STL11000M Scope: TEC 200FL Mount: AP1200
Filter(s): Exposure: 16x8m blank
The dark nebula Barnard 33, also known as the Horsehead Nebula in Orion. This image is a stack of 16 eight minute exposures through an Hα filter using an SBIG STL11000M CCD camera on a TEC 200FL 8" f/8 refractor. The images were calibrated, stacked, wavelet sharpened, and a gamma stretch was performed using AIP4WIN V2.3.0. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 4008 x 2672.

The Horsehead Nebula region in Orion. This color image is a stack of 8 four minute exposures using a 4" f/5.4 TeleVue NP-101 refractor equipped with a 0.8x focal reducer. Each color channel is a stack of 4 four minute exposures. The images were calibrated, stacked and automatically color balanced using AIP4WIN. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1368x1022.

The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) is an oft-photographed dark nebula in Orion. This color image is a stack of 60 one minute exposures using a 5" f/6 refractor. Each color channel is a stack of 16 one minute exposures using 2x2 binning. The luminance image was calibrated, stacked and Gaussian histogram shaped. The color channels were G2V balanced and combined, all performed using AIP4WIN. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 936x1170.
